UJI EFEK ANTIPIRETIK EKSTRAK ETANOL DAUN KEMBANG SEPATU (Hibiscus rosa-sinensis L.) TERHADAP TIKUS PUTIH (Rattus Novergicus)

The leaves of China Rose Leaves (Hibiscus rosa-sinensis L.) or known as Bunga sepatu in Indonesia contain flavonoids, saponins and polyphenols known to have antipyretic properties. The antipyretic effect of ethanol extract of China Rose leaves on white mice was examined in this research ant the effective dose with the most optimal antipyretic effect was also determined. An experimental method was employed to test the antipyretic effect of the ethanol extract of China Rose leaves (Hibiscus rosa-sinensis L.) on white mice induced with 5% peptone to be compared with paracetamol. The results showed that the administration of 5% peptone as a fever inducer increased the body temperature of white mice from 35,6oC to 40,7oC. Paracetamol syrup and ethanol extract of China Rose leaves at doses of 400 mg/kgBW (Dose I), 500 mg/kgBW (Dose II) and 600 mg/kgBW (Dose III) were administered to the mice orally. The results showed that paracetamol syrup reduced the body temperature of white mice by 3,7oC. Meanwhile, the ethanol extract of China Rose leaves lowered it by 2,8oC at Dose I, 2,9oC at Dose II and 3,2oC at Dose III. The results of the analysis conclude that the ethanol extract of China Rose leaves at a dose 600 mg/kgBW has an antipyretic effect that is almost equivalent to paracetamol syrup.
